…Farm Fresh Color Challenge

Happy Friday, everyone!  It’s time for another Farm Fresh Friday Challenge over at The Greeting Farm Blog, and this week we have a…COLOR CHALLENGE (Turquoise, Black, and 1 other color).  I used an older image, “Oh, Boy Ian” to create my card.  I stamped him in Black Ink, then colored him with Copic Sketch Markers.  I paired the finished image with some patterned papers from a couple of retired paper pads from Stampin’ Up, and added some stitching to the large plaid panel.  I added some Paper Piercing to the edges of the focal panel, then attached the image to it using Dimensionals.  I stamped the sentiment from the “Anya Says” set in Black Ink onto Red Cardstock, then layered it with Turquoise and Black Cardstock.  After adding some Silver Nail Heads and several more Dimensionals the card was complete!

…Just For You

Happy Friday, everyone!  Not only is it time for another Farm Fresh Friday Challenge, but it’s also Release Day over at The Greeting Farm Store!  This week over at The Greeting Farm Blog we have a couple of challenges for you to choose from: 1.)  A COLOR CHALLENGE, which is what I’ll be showcasing today and 2.) a special HALLOWEEN-THEMED CHALLENGE.  I’m using the new Amelia image from the “OA-Just For You” set, and the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #86 from my sweet friend, Karen Giron (I did move the sentiment strip over to the other side, though…hope it still counts).  Amelia was stamped in Black Ink, then colored with Copic Sketch Markers.  I cut the focal panel out using the Classic Circle Nesties and a Big Shot.  I paired the image with some patterned papers from SU’s retired Brocade Backgrounds Designer Series Paper pack, then dry embossed the vertical panel with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Embossing Folder.  After adding some Stitching, Sponging, Cork & Felt Flowers, and tons of Dimensionals the card was complete!  Doesn’t she have the sweetest little face?

This is my submission for Farm Fresh Friday challenge at The Greeting Farm's blog. Today's challenge is actually a sketch from our fearless Design Team Coordinator, Jessica Diedrich! I also wanted to incorporate the Color Challenge #239 from SCS this week {Kraft, Mellow Moss, and Whisper White}, but I had to add a pop of Ruby Red...hope it still qualifies for the challenge! LOL! I used the new TGF set "Keep Cozy" simply because I adore this set...I think these little snowmen are the cutest things ever! I used several stamps from the set starting with the small snowflake to create some custom patterned paper on the small Kraft Cardstock panel. The sentiment was embossed on the moss patterned paper from the Patterns Pack III, then the precious snowman was embossed on Watercolor Paper. He was colored with Classic Pads and an Aquapainter before being cut out and popped off of the focal panel with Dimensionals. The scallops were created with the Fiskars' Apron Lace Border Punch, then Antique Brass Brads were added in place of the ribbon.

Happy Wednesday, everyone! It has been a whirlwind couple of days, and yesterday's announcement from Stampin' Up didn't help matters. If you are one of my customers, I must tell you that I WILL NOT be selling SU effective immediately. They have pushed through some very demanding and outrageous rules and guidelines that not only restrict the use and/or mentioning of different products, but also restrict what demonstrators can and can't say on their personal blogs and other online forums. They are also going to restrict any demo from being a part of a design team for any other company besides them. I will not be party to a company that behaves this way in order to strong arm their workers, nor will I give that company FREE publicity on my blog. So from here on out, if I use any SU products they will not be mentioned by name...only as a very generic item. Hosta la vista, SU!

With that being said, I would like to move on to the card I created for yesterday's Color Challenge #234 at SCS, and the CPS Sketch Challenge #131. I used the Verve set Up, Up, and Away, and I created my own patterned paper with the concave squares stamp from the same set. The hot air balloon, sentiment, and clouds were embossed, then watercolored before being popped up off the focal panel with foam squares. I added some Stickles to give the balloon some sparkle, and placed three Silver Brads on the focal panel as well. Some melon-colored dotted ribbon was tied above the focal panel to complete the card.

This was my submission for this week's Color Challenge #225 at SCS...So Saffron, Night of Navy, and Kraft. I started with a Kraft Cardstock base, then matted the focal panel with Night of Navy Cardstock. The images and sentiment were from the same Inkadinkado set called "Garden Flower". The sentiment was stamped in Night of Navy Classic Ink using a Stamp-a-ma-jig and Image Sheet for proper placement...I hate crooked words! The images were stamped in VersaMark Ink onto Glossy Cardstock, then embossed with Clear Embossing Powder and a Heat Gun. I used a Brayer with the Rubber Attachment to color over the entire glossy panel. I rolled it in So Saffron Classic Ink so that it was completely coated, and then rolled across the panel several times to make the color look uniform {I only had to reink the roller one extra time to get the rich saffron color}. I used a Paper Towel to gently remove the excess ink from the images...this makes the images brighter. This technique is called **Embossing Resist**. The focal panel was attached to the card base using Dimensionals, and I pierced above the panel using a Mat Pack and Paper Piercer. I added a piece of Kraft Taffeta Ribbon, a miscellaneous Navy Button, and some Linen Thread to complete the card.

...The Best Thing That's Ever Happened

This is my submission for this week's Sketch Challenge #233 and Color Challenge #223 at SCS. I started with a Ruby Red Cardstock base, then matted the focal panel with Basic Black Cardstock. The large Whisper White Cardstock panel was pierced with a Mat Pack and Paper Piercer. The Ruby Red Cardstock panel was embossed with the Cuttlebug Leafy Branch Embossing Folder, and the Baja Breeze Cardstock panel was embossed with the Cuttlebug Distressed Stripes Embossing Folder. The Whisper White Cardstock focal panel was stamped with one of the sentiments from Verve Visual's set "All About You" in Basic Black Craft Ink. It was then embossed with Clear Embossing Powder and a Heat Gun. The flowers from the set "Grateful Elegance" were stamped in the same manner as the sentiment onto a scrap piece of white cardstock, then they were colored with with Copic Sketch Markers. Each bloom was cut out using CutterBee Scissors, then arranged on the focal panel using Dimensionals. Four Silver Jumbo Brads were added to complete the card.

...Quick Color/Sketch Combo Card

This was a quick card that I made just a few minutes ago using this week's Color Challenge #221 and Sketch Challenge #231 at SCS. I started with a Kiwi Kiss Cardstock base, and matted the patterned paper strips with Basic Black Cardstock. The large Whisper White Cardstock panel and strips were pierced using a Mat Pack and Paper Piercer. The patterned papers were from the following packs: Riding Hood Red Designer Series Paper, Kiwi Kiss Designer Series Paper, and Tangerine Tango Designer Series Paper. The sentiment and flourish were from the Cherished Memories Rub Ons Pack, and I added Black Rhinestones along with a piece of 5/8" Black Grosgrain Ribbon to complete the card.

This was my submission for Julee Tilman's Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge #80, and SCS's Color Challenge #212 for this week...Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip, and Riding Hood Red. This is "Maisy", and she is from Stamping Bella's KETTO stamp line...I am totally hooked on them right now {as if you couldn't tell}! I used the patterned papers from the Bella Rose Designer Series Paper pack, and the sentiment was from SU's "One of a Kind" stamp set. I embossed Maisy, then colored her with Copic Sketch Markers. Her wings and crown were colored with a Gold Sakura Glaze Pen. The embellishments I used were Riding Hood Red Taffeta Ribbon, a button from the Button Bouquet collection, and Silver Brads. I added a piece of Linen Thread to the button also.

This was my submission for Jen del Muro's Sketch For You To Try from Saturday. This is "MissMatch", and she was stamped and colored in the same manner as the image above. I used the patterned papers from both the Pink Flamingo Designer Series Paper pack and the Good Morning Sunshine Designer Paper pack. I colored her crown with a Gold Sakura Glaze Pen, then highlighted her hair with a White Signo Gel Pen. The only embellishments were two Prima Flowers and a Heidi Swapp Flower Ghost Image.

...MTSC22 + Color Challenge #197

BE SURE TO TRY OUT MY SKETCH CHALLENGE IN THE POST BELOW!

This is my sample for this week's Sketch Challenge (MTSC22), and my submission for this week's Color Challenge at SCS. I started with a Kiwi Kiss Cardstock base, then matted each layer with Basic Gray Cardstock (except for the focal and sentiment panels; I matted those with Kiwi Kiss Cardstock). All of the patterned papers were from the Urban Garden Designer Series Paper pack. A piece of Whisper White Cardstock was pierced using a Mat Pack and Paper Piercer, then three Silver Brads were added down the right side. The off-navy patterned paper, the kiwi oval, and Baja Breeze Cardstock panels were pierced around the edges using the same tools. The flower was from an upcoming Hostess Set "Echoes of Kindness", and it was stamped on white paper in Jet Black Staz-On Ink. The leaves were colored using an Aquapainter and Kiwi Kiss Classic Ink. The petals were colored using Baja Breeze Classic Ink and Not Quite Navy Classic Ink. I popped the two blooms and larger leaf off of the original image using Dimensionals as I did with all of the matted layers {talk about dimension on a card! LOL! This baby *POPS*!} The sentiment was from the set "Short & Sweet", and was stamped in Jet Black Staz-On Ink. I pierced the edges of the oval, then added a Baby Blue Rhinestone Brad to the top. A piece of 5/8" Kiwi Kiss Striped Ribbon was tied around a piece of Silver Swirl Hardware then added to the top left corner of the focal panel to finish off the card.

This was my submission for today's Color Challenge at Splitcoaststampers.com (Taken With Teal, Riding Hood Red, Baja Breeze, and Whisper White). I started with a Riding Hood Red Cardstock base, then matted a piece of Taken With Teal Cardstock that was stamped with the dotted circle from "Snowflake Splendor" (Verve Visual) in Taken With Teal Classic Ink with Whisper White Cardstock. The edges of the panel were pierced using a Mat Pack and Paper Piercer, then a piece of 5/8" Riding Hood Red Striped Grosgrain Ribbon was tied around the entire panel before it was attached to the base using Dimensionals. The focal panel consisted of the following: Baja Breeze Cardstock, Whisper White Cardstock, Taken With Teal Cardstock, and Riding Hood Red Cardstock. The solid snowflake circles were stamped on the white cardstock in Baja Breeze Classic Ink, as were the small snowflakes in the background of the sentiment panel. The dotted circles were stamped in Taken With Teal Craft Ink, then embossed with Clear Embossing Powder and a Heat Gun. The sides of the snowflake panel were pierced, and the Spiral Punch was used at the top of the same panel. The completed baja/white panel was attached to the base with Dimensionals. The sentiment was stamped in VersaMark Ink, then embossed with Black Embossing Powder and a Heat Gun. That panel was also popped up with Dimensionals. Easy as can be!

Well....I couldn't sleep at all last night {isn't that a song?}, so I decided to go ahead and get a jump on today's Sketch Challenge #205 at Splitcoaststampers. I also combined the sketch with yesterday's Color Challenge #195 to kill two birds with one stone. I started with a Basic Black Cardstock base, then pierced a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock with a Mat Pack and Paper Piercer to go on top of the black. Each panel consisted of Sahara Sand Cardstock that was matted with Basic Black Cardstock. The leaf image was from the set "Stem Silhouettes", and was stamped in VersaMark Ink before being embossed with Clear Embossing Powder and a Heat Gun. Black Brads were added to each panel before a piece of 5/8" Black Satin Ribbon was added around the bottom one. The focal panel was stamped with the same leaf image in Sahara Sand Classic Ink onto Very Vanilla Cardstock, then the sentiment from "Best Yet" was stamped in Jet Black Staz-On Ink. I once again used a Stamp-a-ma-jig and Image Sheet to get the sentiment straight. And viola...an elegant-yet-simple card. What do you think?

...A Color/Sketch Challenge Combo Card

This is my submission for yesterday's Color Challenge and today's Sketch Challenge at SCS. The colors were Pacific Point, Certainly Celery, and Basic Gray. I chose to use the hostess set "Fall Flair" to create this thank you card for a wonderful friend of mine. The flowers and leaves were stamped in Jet Black Staz-On Ink before being watercolored using an Aquapainter, a Pacific Point Classic Ink Pad, and a Certainly Celery Classic Ink Pad. The green squares along the bottom were from the Certainly Celery Designer Series Paper pack, and were punched out using the 1-1/4" Square Punch. The sentiment, from the set "Absolutely Fabulous", was stamped in Jet Black Staz-On Ink onto a scrap piece of Certainly Celery Cardstock. I added several Silver Brads to the layout, then highlighted the flowers and leaves with some Crystal Stickles.

...A Sketch & Color Challenge Card

It has been so long since I've completed a challenge that I was afraid I had forgotten how it all worked! I wanted to combine this week's Color Challenge #189 with this week's Sketch Challenge #199...and this was what emerged. I used the Stampin' Up! Level Two Hostess Set, "Fall Flair" with the following color combination: Pretty in Pink, Kiwi Kiss, and Chocolate Chip. I also used the "Canvas" background stamp to add some texture to my pink side panel, and then added some faux stitching to both of the lower panels (using a Mat Pack, Paper Piercer, and Chocolate Chip Stampin' Write Marker)to add some distressing. The white cardstock on the focal panel was actually some of the Whisper White Textured Cardstock. The blossoms were watercolored with an Aquapainter, then the centers were covered with some Baby Pink Glitter for some much needed *sparkle*. The sentiment was from the word set "Absolutely Fabulous".
