...Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #12 (MTSC12)

DON'T FORGET TO ENTER TO WIN THE BLOG CANDY SEEN HERE!

This is your sketch challenge for this week along with my sample that includes the dimensions. You can change the dimensions to fit your card, but please keep the sketch as close to the original as possible. Fortunately, I was able to get this one made over the weekend at Pam's house. I was swimming all day today with my Chickamauga friends (you know who you are! LOL!), so I wouldn't have gotten a chance to make a sample today.

My sketch card started with a Pumpkin Pie Cardstock base (8-1/2 X 4-1/4). A strip of Tempting Turquoise Cardstock (3-1/2 X 1-1/2) lays horizontally under the focal image. Three Basic Black Brads were placed on the right side of the panel before being attached to the card base using SNAIL Adhesive. The striped panel consisted of Real Red Cardstock (3-3/4 X 1-1/2) and the Prints Pack's Real Red Designer Paper (3-5/8 X 1-3/8). The pieces were attached to each other and the card base using SNAIL Adhesive. The focal panel was Basic Black Cardstock (3-1/4 X 2-3/4) with a piece of Real Red 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon tied in a knot along the bottom, and it was attached to the card base using Dimensionals. The heart from "Always" was stamped in Jet Black Staz-On Ink onto a piece of White Glossy Cardstock. I used a White Birthday Cake Candle to highlight all of the swirls in the heart. Sponge Daubers were used with the Tempting Turquoise Classic Ink Pad and Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink Pad to create the diagonal stripes on the heart. A Facial Tissue was used to wipe the extra ink off of the parts of the heart that were colored with the candle. This technique is called "Crayon or Wax Resist". The heart was then cut out using CutterBee Scissors and attached to the black panel with Dimensionals. The sentiment from "Absolutely Fabulous" was stamped in Jet Black Staz-On Ink using a Stamp-a-ma-jig and Image Sheet for proper placement.

Don't forget to:

  • Use keyword MTSC12 when uploading to a public gallery
  • Link your card in a comment at THIS post so I can see and comment on your creation ( I LOVE seeing what you all come up with!)
  • Post a link back to my blog for the original sketch when posting on your blog or in a public gallery.

That's it for today, but I hope to see you tomorrow with a card for the Sketch Challenge and Color Challenge at SCS. Thanks for stopping by.....now go get started on this sketch!

Ooh, I really like your card! The orange must have somehow gotten lodged in my brain, because that's not a color I normally use, but it showed up today :)
