...It's About Time!

Finally...thanks to my handy-dandy cell phone I have some pictures to post today! These are the projects that my Stampin' Up class did this month. The title of my class was "Wonderful Wax". Needless to say, we used wax in very creative ways! We made two candles, and a card that would fit a legal-sized envelope. I'll give the details beside the pics....

Isn't this gorgeous?! The Night of Navy card measures 9 X 8, and it is folded in half to measure 9 X 4. Whisper White is matted onto the navy. The sentiment is stamped in navy also, and it reads "the world in solemn stillness lay...". The trees (and sentiment) are from the set Solemn Stillness. The focal image is generation stamped (stamped several times without reinking the stamp) using the solid tree image in navy onto glossy white paper. I took a white birthday cake candle, and colored the edges of the trees to make highlights, then used a brayer to roll Brocade Blue ink over the entire image. I removed the ink from the wax by gently rubbing over the panel with a paper towel. The focal image is matted onto Basic Black cardstock, and attached to the white card front.

This is our snowman candle we made using the Flaky Friends set. The image is stamped with Staz-on Black onto white tissue paper, and then colored with markers. I cut the image out very close to the edges and centered it on the white candle. I then used a long piece of wax paper to wrap around the whole candle, and made sure that I had enough to hold on to in the back. Pulling the wax paper tightly around the candle, I used my heat tool to melt the wax behind the image until it had covered it completely. I let the candle cool and the wax settle before I slowly removed the wax paper. There is an image on the front and back, and there is a sentiment between each image that reads "Some of my best friends are flakes".

This is one side of the Halloween candle that we made that night. I used Autumn Harvest and Autumn Apparitions to make this cream candle. I used the same technique and black Staz-on ink as the previous candle, but instead of using tissue paper I used vellum. I actually like using the vellum better, because you can add more dimension and color to the images. I used sponges and eye shadow applicators to color the pumpkins in Pumpkin Pie, Only Orange, Summer Sun, and Old Olive. I cut them out even closer than the tissue paper in order to give a more solid outline. It takes a little longer for the vellum to melt into the wax, but it is only a matter of seconds...no big deal!

This is the other side of the candle. The cat and "happy halloween" are stamped with Staz-on, and the moon was made by tracing a stencil with a black Sharpie marker. The cat was simply stamped and cut out. The moon was colored using Summer Sun and a sponge, and the sentiment was colored using the same colors used on the pumpkins. They were cut close to the edges also to keep from giving them a muddy look. The only thing about using vellum is that only one image can be melted into the wax at a time...but the final product is phenomenal! LOVE IT!

Well that's it for now, but I hope to be back tomorrow with some more goodies in tow! I hope you all are having a great weekend, and I will see you all again later! Hugs ~ Mercy

What a wonderful class that must have been -- gorgeous projects!!! Thanks so much for sharing!!! And you are using your phone to take the pics -- WOW -- I can hardly figure out how to use the cell phone as a phone, much less as a camera -- I am a HUGE embarrassment to my kids -- LOL!!! Love your watermark, too!!! It's fabulous!!!
