...MojoMonday #68 Card

This is my submission for last Monday's Mojo Sketch Challenge #68. I have wanted to make another monochromatic card for some time, and this beautiful sketch afforded me the opportunity! I started with an Old Olive Cardstock base, then matted each additional layer with Basic Black Cardstock. The patterned on the large back ground panel was from the Haiku Designer Series Paper pack, while the polka dotted strip was from the Old Olive Designer Series Paper pack. The butterflies {and sentiment as well} were from the set "Dreams du Jour", and the they were stamped in VersaMark Ink on Translucent Vellum, heat embossed with Black Embossing Powder and a Heat Gun, cut out, and then finally attached to the "quilted" panel using Vellum Tape. The sentiment was stamped in Basic Black Craft Ink onto Certainly Celery Cardstock, embossed with Clear Embossing Powder and a Heat Gun, cut out, then finally attached to a 1-3/4" Basic Black Cardstock circle with Dimensionals {I used the 1-3/4" Circle Punch to create that particular mat}.

The focal panel was created using Whisper White Cardstock and my Scor-Pal {little advertisement inserted here : If you do not have one of these puppies...you have been under a rock! I lived without one for quite some time, but I purchased one at 30% off on our last Archiver's excursion...L-O-V-E IT!}. SEE PHOTOS BELOW for instructions on making the quilted background. I then took the completely quilted white cardstock piece, and colored it using a couple of Sponge Daubers along with Certainly Celery Classic Ink {first} and Old Olive Classic Ink {last}.

Step One: Line up cardstock from one adjacent corner to the other. This marks your center point.
Step Two: Score every 1/2".
Step Three: Turn paper and line up the opposite adjacent corners.
Step Four: Score every 1/2" as before. This is how your completed piece should look.
The ribbon embellishment was created using the Crop-a-Dile, the 1-3/8" Circle Punch, a Pewter Jumbo Eyelet, Black Organdy Ribbon, and Silver Cording. Silver Brads were added after being matted with Basic Black Cardstock circles created with the 1-4" Circle Punch. The background panel and the polka dotted strip were also pierced using a Mat Pack and Paper Piercer.

That's it for today! I will be working on the Featured Stamper Challenge from SCS yesterday, and the new MojoMonday #69 Sketch Challenge as well...I hope to have them ready to post some time later this week. Don't forget that we have another Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge coming up tomorrow...you will not want to miss it! Until then...

Love this card - the black butterlflies just pop!!! I would love to get a Scor-Pal but haven't found one at a good price yet. I do mine with the old SU! paper cutter using the scoring blade. MUCH harder than using your Scor-Pal! You did an awersome job with this sketch. Love the color combo too.

I love this card! I love the monochromatic look, but believe it or not, I'm afraid to try it! I also love that grid technique, and now that I got a Scor-Pal for Christmas, I'll have to try it again! Thanks, as always for the inspiration and wonderful ideas!

Awesome job on this card and thanks for the great tutorial on how you created it. I can't wait to try the quilted technique on a card. I just recently purchased a scor-pal and I don't know now how I lived without it. Great choice of colors and paper! I'm definitely going to be following your blog.
