...Blog Candy Winner & An SFYTT Card

And the winner is #110....

Maggie said...
I think #4 is clean and simple and easy to read!
March 30, 2009 8:35 PM

Congratulations, Maggie! You have thirty (30) days to claim your candy, or I will have to choose another winner. Please email your full name, shipping address, and choice of set from the Occasions Mini Catalog to mkstampin74@bellsouth.net. Thanks for all your wonderful advice concerning my watermark...I finally knew what I had to do! I took all of your advice and came up with the one shown on the card below...what do you think?
This was my submission for Jen del Muro's Sketch For You To Try from this past Saturday. I started with with a Riding Hood Red Cardstock base, and matted each additional layer with Baja Breeze Cardstock. The focal panel was a combination of Riding Hood Red, Baja Breeze, and So Saffron Cardstock. It was also pierced using a Mat Pack and Paper Piercer. The image was from The Greeting Farm's "Shepherd Boy" set, and the sentiment was from the SU set "Thank You Kindly". The patterned papers were all from the Slumber Party Specialty Designer Series Paper pack. They are textured, and they are simply luscious! The image was colored with Copic Sketch Markers, and the only embellishments I used were some Silver Brads.

That's it for today! Thanks for stopping by to see me, and I will see you all back here tomorrow with a sketch card for the Stamps and Smiles Sketch Challenge #10. I would love for you to join us. I am designing the sketches, so I always drop by to see what everyone has created! Until later...

...Do Me A Favor For Some Blog Candy

I am going to be away from the house today stamping with my gal pal, Pam Varnell, but I need your honest opinions! Which of the following watermarks fits me and/or my cardmaking style best? I have been playing in Photoshop, and I've created these four to choose from. Problem is....I can't choose which I like best! ACK! So here's what I have decided to do: I am going to let you all choose which one will appear on my cards for the next couple of months. Just leave a comment {one per person please} at this post letting me know which one you would like to see used on my card photos. After all the votes have been tabulated, I will choose ONE PERSON to win their choice of ONE FREE STAMP SET from the upcoming Occasions Mini Catalog from Stampin' Up! I will randomly draw and announce the name of the winner on April 7th, so be sure to check back in to see if you have won. Once the winner is announced, he/she will have 30 days to claim their prize. If the winner does not come forward in the allotted time frame, I will choose another individual to receive the blog candy.

Now...here are the choices:

Edited to Add: The background colors will not be visible when the watermark is transferred onto the card photo...I just gave the background different colors so you could see it easier. The watermark size will not be as large as it appears here either...it will be changed to fit in the corners of the card like I do my other one now. Thanks! :)

#1 : Fleur

#2 : Cog

#3 : Smudged Butterfly

#4 : Big Top
That's it for now! Thanks for stopping by, and thanks for helping me with this difficult decision. Until later...

...Sketch Challenge #183, Ways To Use It Challenge #173, Kristina's Color Challenge #14, & A Winner !!!

This is my submission for yesterday's Sketch Challenge at SCS, and Kristina's Color Inspiration #14 Challenge . I started with a Kraft Cardstock (Layer 1) card base (6-5/8 X 6-1/2), and when it was folded in half it measured 6-5/8 X 3-1/4. All of the images are from SU's Level Two Hostess Set "Spring Solitude". Basic Black Cardstock (Layer 3 : 4-1/4 X 3-1/8) was stamped with the flower trio stamp in Whisper White Craft Ink, and was embossed with Stampendous White Embossing Powder. A piece of Real Red 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon was tied around the center of the panel, and the completed panel was attached to the card base using Dimensionals. A piece of Whisper White Cardstock (Layer 2 : 2-1/2 X 1-7/8) was added beside the black panel, and was attached to the card base using SNAIL Adhesive. The focal panel (Layer 4) consisted of Basic Black Cardstock (4-3/16 X 2-3/16), Kraft Cardstock (4-1/16 X 2-1/16), and Whisper White Cardstock (4 X 2). The branch and bird images were stamped in Jet Black Staz-On Ink onto the white panel using a Stamp-a-ma-jig and Image Sheet for placement. The bird was stamped again onto a scrap piece of white paper, cut out using CutterBee Scissors, and placed over the black bird using a Dimensional. The sentiment was stamped twice: once in Real Red Classic Ink onto white cardstock, and again in black on Real Red Cardstock. The red "thank" was punched out using the Small Oval Punch, and was matted onto black cardstock that was punched out with the Large Oval Punch. The black "you" was cut down using a Paper Cutter, and was attached to the ovals using SNAIL Adhesive. Black Brads were added below layer two and to the sentiment panel to finish off the card.

This is my submission for today's Ways To Use It Challenge on SCS. We were to score our creations in some way, so I scored the Old Olive Cardstock card base (8-1/2 X 5-1/2) under the sentiment panel. The sentiment panel consisted of Whisper White Cardstock (4-1/4 X 2-1/4), Bravo Burgundy Cardstock (4-1/4 X 5/16), and a piece of designer paper from BasicGrey's Figgy 6X6 Paper Pad (4-1/4 X 1-1/2). The sentiment was from the set "Hugs & Wishes", and was stamped in Jet Black Staz-On Ink using a Stamp-a-ma-jig and Image Sheet for placement. The layers were attached to the white cardstock with SNAIL Adhesive, and the completed panel was attached to the card base using Dimensionals. A piece of Teal 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon was added to the panel, and three Black Brads were placed above the panel using a Mat Pack (for placement) and Paper Piercer to finish off the card. Now on to the winner of the blog candy! My husband chose #52 .................... Janet Beahm (harley7312)!

Shoot me an email to let me know when and where you want to meet to get your goodies. Thanks to everyone who left comments and entered to win. I have made some wonderful friends online, and I appreciate your faithful readership. It's because of all of you that I can celebrate these wonderful milestones. {{{{BIG CYBER HUGS}}}}

...Ways To Use It Challenge #172, & 50K Hits Blog Candy !!!

Let's start off today with the card that I submitted for today's Ways To Use It Challenge at SCS. We were to incorporate birds into our layouts, so I used the birds and branches from the set "Silhouettes" by See-D's. I started with a Ruby Red Cardstock base that measured 10 X 5 to create a 5" square card. The striped panel consisted of Old Olive Designer Series Paper (5 X 2-3/4) and Basic Black Cardstock (5 X 3). The two papers were attached to each other using SNAIL Adhesive, then the panel was faux stitched using a Mat Pack, Paper Piercer, and a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker. The completed panel was attached to the card base using the same adhesive.

The focal panel was Whisper White Cardstock (3-3/4 X 2-3/4) and Basic Black Cardstock (3-7/8 X 2-7/8). The birds were stamped twice onto the white cardstock in Ruby Red Classic Ink, and Crystal Stickles were used to add some sparkle to the birds. Once the birds were dry, the branches were stamped in both Old Olive Classic Ink and Certainly Celery Classic Ink. I used a Brayer & Rubber Attachment to create the sky by rolling over the entire image with Soft Sky Classic Ink. The two pieces of cardstock were attached to each other with adhesive, then a piece of Black Organdy Ribbon was tied in a knot at the bottom of the panel. The completed panel was attached to the card base using Dimensionals. The sentiment reads, "Wishing You Well", and it is from the Verve Visual set "Wonderful Wishes". It was stamped in Jet Black Staz-On Ink onto a scrap piece of Certainly Celery Cardstock, then punched out using the 1" Circle Punch. The punched sentiment piece was mounted onto Ruby Red Cardstock that had been punched using the 1-1/4" Circle Punch. Those pieces were then mounted to some Basic Black Cardstock that was punched out using the 1-3/8" Circle Punch. Three Baby Blue KaiserScrapbook Rhinestones were added just above the words on the sentiment piece, then the completed panel was attached to the card base with Dimensionals.

That's it for the card...now on to the goodies! Since my hits counter passed 50,000 some time yesterday, I want to offer some blog candy to a lucky winner. All you have to do to win is leave a comment at THIS post. I will announce the winner on Thursday, July 3rd. Here's what you can receive if your name is chosen:

  • One (1) pack of Love & Happiness Rub Ons (from SU's Sale-a-Bration promotion: this includes a sheet in each of the following colors: Black, White, Olive, and Chocolate)
  • One (1) "Friendship Blooms" stamp set (also from SU's Sale-a-Bration promotion)

  • Eight (8) Chipboard Stars
  • One (1) spool of 5/8" White Ribbon (8 yards)
  • Assorted Designer Series Papers (6X6 pieces from the following: Afternoon Tea, Berry Bliss, and Summer Picnic)
Thanks so much for your faithful readership, and for all of the kind and wonderful comments you've left over the last several months. I can't tell you how much I have appreciated hearing from all of you! Thanks for stopping by today, and I will see you again tomorrow. Until then....

Now to the card! This is my submission for today's Color Challenge at SCS: Purely Pomegranate, Wild Wasabi, and So Saffron. I started with a card base of Purely Pomegranate cardstock that measured 11 X 4-1/4, and when folded in half to open at the bottom measures 5-1/2 X 4-1/4. The border at the top of the card is from the "Urban West" Rub Ons Pack. Black KaiserScrapbook Rhinestones are scattered throughout the flourish. The sentiment is also a rub on, but it is from the "Anchored" Rub Ons Pack. Another Black KaiserScrapbook Rhinestone was added to the star in the "o" for added dimension.

The punched flower was made using the following punches and papers: 5-Petal Flower Punch (Basic Black cardstock, Wild Wasabi Designer Paper-from the Prints Pack, Purely Pomegranate caardstock, So Saffron cardstock), and the Snow Blossom Punch (Wild Wasabi cardstock only). The flower on the top is a rub on , also from the "Anchored" Rub Ons Pack, and was placed on Purely Pomegranate cardstock. The flower was then cut out using CutterBee Scissors, and another Black KaiserScrapbook Rhinestone was added to its center. Each layer was attached to the others using Dimensionals, and the completed bloom was attached to the card base using Dimensionals again.

...LSC142: Infused With Love, and Blog Candy Winner

This is my submission for today's Limited Supplies Challenge at SCS. We were to use 2-3 stamps (one had to be a heart or sentiment), use one pattern of designer paper, use one embellishment, use one specialty tool, use limited layers, and use any coloring tools. I made a 5-1/2" square card with Old Olive cardstock, and sponged the edges with Chocolate Chip ink with a Sponge Dauber. I used designer paper from BasicGrey's Infuse 6 X 6 paper pad, and cut it to measure 5-3/8" square. I used the flourish from Baroque Motifs, and stamped in onto the designer paper using the chocolate ink again. The striped paper is attached to the olive cardstock using SNAIL Adhesive.

The side panel is Chocolate Chip cardstock measuring 4-1/2" X 4", and So Saffron cardstock measuring 4-3/8" X 3-7/8". The saffron piece is stamped in chocolate ink using the Sanded background stamp, and the "love" sentiment from the set Love & Joy. The two pieces are attached to each other, then attached to card base. I stamped the "merry" sentiment from Love & Joy in olive, and punched it out using the 3/4" Circle Punch. The edges are sponged in chocolate, and the 1/8" Handheld Punch was used to make the hole for the Rhinestone Brad to be added. A scrap piece of chocolate cardstock is punched using the 1" Circle Punch, and the two circles were attached using a Dimensional. These circles were used to make the "o" in "love", and are popped up from the card base using a dimensional again. The heart itself is a piece of chipboard from On Board Accents, and is covered with the same striped paper used on the card base. I traced the shape onto the back of the designer paper, cut it out, then sponged the edges with chocolate ink. The paper was glued to the heart using a spray adhesive, then the edges were trimmed with scissors and sanded with a Sanding Block. The heart is attached to the card base using strips of foam tape.

Now for the winner of the blog candy giveaway goodies! And the winner is #69.............................. Angel Wilde ....congratulations, Angel! Please email your address to me so I can get your goodies out on Monday. Thanks to everyone for sharing your list of individuals who inspire you. I truly enjoyed reading all of them.
