...Ways To Use It Challenge #141, and Gabe's Card!

This is my submission for today's Ways To Use It Challenge at SCS. We were to use some sort of stitching...so I chose to use faux stitching at the bottom of my focal panel. But I started with an 11" X 4-1/4" card base in Chocolate Chip, and folded it so it would open sideways. The final dimensions are 5-1/2" X 4-1/4". The next layer is So Saffron (5-1/4" X 4") embossed with the Textile Texture Embossing Folder from CuttleBug, then sponged with Close to Cocoa with a Sponge Dauber. All four corners are punched with the Ticket Corner Punch before being attached to the chocolate with SNAIL Adhesive. The center panel is Chocolate Chip (4-1/4" X 3-1/4"), So Saffron (4" X 3"), and Very Vanilla (3-3/4" X 2-3/4") cardstocks. I used my Mat Pack and Paper Piercer to make the stitching holes, then my Chocolate Chip Marker to make the faux stitching across the bottom of the panel. I used a scrap piece of chocolate (3-1/4" X 1"), embossed it with the same CuttleBug folder used earlier, and attached it to the left edge of the panel. I then tied a piece of 3/8" Brown Velvet Ribbon from Ribbons And Bows Oh My! around the left side of the panel, too. This panel is attached to the card base using Dimensionals.

The focal image is the medallion from the set Sweet Sampler, and it is stamped twice: once in chocolate, and then again in saffron to make a light shadow onto vanilla cardstock (1-7/8" X 1-5/8"). I used the "mon amie" stamp from Carte Postale as the sentiment in the center. It was stamped in VersaMark then embossed with Black Embossing Powder from Ranger. The edges are then sponged in chocolate before attaching it to a piece of saffron (2" X 1-3/4") and chocolate (2-1/8" X 2) cardstock. The panel is popped up with Dimensionals. I used Pearl Crystal Stickers in the corners of the medallion, and in each corner of the card base.


Now....check out the card that my youngest son, Gabe, made yesterday......isn't he wonderful?! On occasion he enjoys getting right in there with me to make cards, and yesterday was no exception! He came home from spending the night at a friend's house around noon, and informed me that he was ready to create! He knew the colors he wanted to use, the stamp set he wanted to use, and the layout he wanted to use...he's already way ahead of me! LOL! He was inspired by my red and white "joy" card from November 14th (sketch challenge #150). The card base is Gable Green, and measures 8-1/2" X 5-1/2". Brilliant Blue cardstock that measures 5-1/8" X 4" is embossed using the Traffic Jam Embossing Folder from CuttleBug, then it is attached with SNAIL Adhesive to the base. The focal image panel is Green Galore (3" X 4"), Brilliant Blue (2-7/8" X 3-7/8":embosssed with Tiny Mosaic Texture Embossing Folder from CuttleBug), and Whisper White (3" X 1-3/4"). The blue and green are attached to each other while the "love" stamp from Love & Joy is stamped in Brilliant Blue Ink. The edges are then sponged in Gable Green Ink using a Sponge Dauber. The "xoxo" stamp from the same set is stamped in green, and then it is punched out using the 3/4" Circle Punch. He used a 1/16" Handheld Punch to make a hole for a blue brad to be placed in the middle of the heart. A scrap piece of blue paper is punched to make a mat using the 1" Circle Punch, and the two circles are attached to each other using a Dimensional. Both circles are attached over the "o" in "love" with a dimensional also. He used the 1/16" punch to make holes for the Blue Organdy Ribbon to go through, then tied it off in a knot........isn't he great?! I was so impressed that I had to share it with you guys!
