...Viva La Stitching

This card is for last Friday's Viva La Verve Challenge at the Verve Forum AND Wednesday's Cuttlebug Be Inspired Challenge #71. I used this gorgeous purple dining room as inspiration for my color combo, and used the sketch provided for the layout...but I flipped it, of course! I added stitching to both the horizontal and circular panels, which was the challenge from the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog. The card base was embossed using the Cuttlebug Textile Texture Embossing Folder, and the the striped panel was embossed with the Diamonds In The Rough Embossing Folder.

The focal panel was stamped with the flourish from Verve's "Celebration of Thanks" set in Pale Plum Ink, and one of the sentiments from the "Forever In Our Hearts" in Bravo Burgundy Ink. I added pearls to the corners to the panel, tied some Dark Purple Ribbon around the card front, and pierced under the sentiment using a Mat Pack and Paper Piercer. The pearls were actually white, but I colored them with my V15 Copic Marker to perfectly match my card base...LOVE that trick!

That's it for me today! Thanks for stopping by to see me, and I will see you back here tomorrow with a BLOG CANDY SURPRISE!!! Until then...

...Viva La Florals

I promised a card today, so here it is! Have you ever had a day where absolutely nothing went right? That was my luck today! LOL! I started this card early this morning, and have walked away from it at least 10 times in an attempt to find more mojo...but it never came! I am not a fan of this card at all, but it is what it is. I loved the sketch from the this week's Viva La Verve Challenge at the Verve Forum...Amber always designs amazing sketches to work with, and she's including inspiration pieces this year to really get us going. I used the flowers from Verve's "Floral Symphony" and the sentiment from "Fairy Tales". I used Summer Sun and Always Artichoke Cardstock along with some new papers from the Ooh La La For Him paper pack by My Mind's Eye. I kept the embellishments simple with Ribbon, Pearls, and Stickles. Some piercing around the edges of the focal and floral panels completed the card.
That's it for me! I promised a card today, and I delivered...it's late, but still today! LOL! Thanks for stopping by, and I will see you all back here tomorrow with a card for the Mojo Sketch Challenge. Until then...

...Viva La Mojo

This is my submission for this week's Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge #107. I used the wreath from the new Verve set "Harvest Blessings" on the focal panel, then created my own patterned paper with the bough from the same set. I added some paper piercing, sponging, and Silver Brads to complete the card. I LOVE the way this turned out!

This bright creation is my submission for Friday's Viva La Verve Sketch Challenge with a twist of color...we could use orange or brown. When I took the picture of my card and went to edit it, I noticed that there were orange stripes in the Penny Lane patterned paper...OOPS! Sorry about that, Amber...I hope this still counts! LOL! The stars and sentiment were from the new Verve set "Starstruck", and the only embellishments used were Riding Hood Red Striped Ribbon and Silver Brads.

...Viva La Verve Sketch Card

This is my submission for the Viva La Verve Sketch Challenge from Friday at the Verve Forum at SCS. The twist for this week was to use specialty papers, so I used the new Christmas Cocoa Specialty Designer Series Paper on my card. The flourish on the red patterned paper is actually fuzzy and textured, and the stripes are glittery on the other piece of patterned paper. I used the flowers and sentiment from the Verve set "Because Of You", and added some ribbon from the Mistletoe Ribbon Collection to complete the card.

That's it for me today! I am completely worn out, and in dire need of a nap...so I will be headed to the bedroom for a few quick z's. Thanks for coming by to see me today, and I will see you tomorrow with a card for the Mojo Sketch, and a card for the C4C challenge from yesterday. Until then...

...Challenge Cards

I am still in the mountains with these crazy and hilarious women, but I wanted to go ahead and pre-post something for you guys to look at today. I attended my first Verve Release Party as an official Diva, and I got the opportunity to share these two brand-spankin' new cards that I've made since we got to the stamping retreat.
This first card is for the My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge #99 from Thursday. I used some patterned paper from the Laundry Line series from My Mind's Eye, and some Melon Mambo and Sage Shadow Cardstock. The images were from the new Verve set Harvest Blessings, and the leaves and sentiment were embossed on Kraft Cardstock. I added the berries in Melon Mambo for a bit of contrast. The button was actually a Clear Button that was covered with Sage Shadow Craft Ink, then embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. It actually looks marbled up close, and I love the way it turned out.
This last card was for Friday's Viva La Verve Sketch Challenge found at the Verve Forum at SCS. The twist for this week's sketch was to use black and white. I stamped the bird and sentiment from Verve's new set, Swan Song, in Basic Black Craft Ink, then embossed them with Clear Embossing Powder. The patterned papers were from The Paper Studio's Black & White collection, and the only embellishments used were brads and a piece of Black Ribbon.
On a sadder note, I received news Friday that a dear and faithful friend of our family had passed away suddenly. His family and friends are devastated, and would deeply appreciate your prayers and thoughts at this time. He will be sorely missed, but his eternal effect on my life and the lives of those who knew him will never be forgotten...I love you and will miss you, Lanny!

...Viva La Butterflies

This is my submission for the Viva la Verve Sketch Challenge from Friday at the Verve Forum at SCS. There's always a "twist" issued along with the sketch, and this week's happens to be "little round things"...so I added several to my card; a scalloped edge, piercing, and rhinestones. I used the new Verve set "Enjoy" along with some patterned paper from the Tea Party Designer Series Paper pack. My colors included Almost Amethyst, Basic Gray, Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, So Saffron, and Whisper White...I don't think I've EVER used that many colors on one card, but it sure did turn out wonderful! I even sewed on my card...it is crooked, but I think I did pretty good for my second time using a sewing machine! LOL!

That's it for today! Thanks for stopping by to see me today! I have some cards to submit, a house to get cleaned, and laundry to wash...so I will see you all again tomorrow! Until then...

...Some Verve-alicious Cards

This first card was my submission for yesterday's Viva la Verve Sketch Challenge with the twist of using our favorite color combination. I used my three faves...Tangerine Tango, Old Olive, and Chocolate Chip. I also used my favorite retired patterned paper...Hawaii Papaya Designer Series Paper along with a piece from the Tangerine Tango Designer Series Paper. The pumpkins and sentiment were from the Verve set "Tall Oaks", and the only embellishment used was a piece of Chocolate Chip Felt Ribbon. I am sooooo ready for fall! :)

This second card was my submission for the Day Five Mojo Sketch Challenge (designed by Teresa Kline) in celebration of MojoMonday's 100th sketch. I used the cross and sentiment from the Verve set "Notes of Prayer". The patterned paper was from the Urban Oasis Designer Series Paper pack along with the following cardstock: Basic Black, Whisper White, and Kiwi Kiss. The only embellishments used were a Square Rhinestone Brad, three Mini Pearls, and a piece of Striped Kiwi Kiss Grosgrain Ribbon.
That's it for now! I will see you back here in just a little while with a card for the My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge and the Limited Supplies Challenge from this week! Thanks for stopping by, and until later...

...Practice Hospitality

This is my submission for this past Friday's Viva la Verve Sketch Challenge found at the Verve Forum at SCS. Amber Hight is an amazing sketch artist...and she's not a half-bad cardmaker either! LOL! Love you, Amber! As soon as I saw her sketch I knew exactly what I wanted to do! I flipped the sketch on its side, then used ribbon instead of a long paper panel. I used the new Romans 12:13 Plain Jane (from Verve) along with the butterfly from Enjoy. I embossed both images, but I treated both of them differently. I sponged the sentiment panel while I watercolored the butterfly. The circles were created using Spellbinders' Classic Circle Nesties, and the background panel was embossed using the Big Shot and the Diamonds in the Rough Cuttlebug Embossing Folder. I also sponged the edges of that panel with a Sponge Dauber. I added some sparkle to the butterfly with some Crystal Stickles and Orange Rhinestones, but embellished the card with some lacy, beaded ribbon along with some Dusty Durango Dotted Grosgrain Ribbon.
That's it for me today! I have some homemade salsa to make while my homemade chicken stock cools, but I will be working on my SU only card for tomorrow's sketch challenge. Don't forget to stop by to see and play along with Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge...you won't regret it {wink, wink}! Until then...
