...Embossed Winter Butterflies

What could be more beautiful on a cold fall day than bold and bright butterflies? This was yet another challenge that my buddy, Pam Varnell, and I tackled on our stamping weekend. I can't remember if this was her color combination pick or mine (I believe it was hers...was it, Pam?). I started with a Real Red Cardstock base , then built the layers up using Taken With Teal Cardstock, Ski Slope Designer Series Paper (red patterned paper), Green Tea Designer Series Paper (green patterned paper), and Whisper White Cardstock. The Green Tea paper panel was pierced using a Mat Pack and Paper Piercer, and a piece of Certainly Celery 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon was tied around the Ski Slope paper panel. Three flower brads from the Styled Silver Hodgepodge Hardware tin were placed along the side of the green tea and focal panels.

The butterflies, flowers, and sentiment were all from the set "Kind Thoughts". The flowers were stamped on the white focal panel in the following: Real Red Classic Ink, Taken With Teal Classic Ink, and Certainly Celery Classic Ink. The sentiment was stamped in Taken With Teal Craft Ink, then embossed with Clear Embossing Powder and a Heat Gun. A butterfly was stamped in Real Red Craft Ink, Certainly Celery Craft Ink, and Taken With Teal Craft Ink onto Whisper White Cardstock. The butterflies were also embossed in Clear Embossing Powder with a Heat Gun. The winged creatures were then cut out and popped up off of the focal panel using Dimensionals. So what do you think?

That's it for today! I will be finishing up some birthday cards at my friends' house this afternoon, then my husband and I will be heading to Murray County to watch our fourteen-year-old play junior varsity basketball for his high school...GO WARRIORS!!! I will see you all again some time Saturday! Until then...

Mercy, the picture just doesn't this card justice. It is "to die for" in person. I love what you did with the butterflies. Yes, this was a color combo I picked out and you nailed it girl!! Wish we could do that every weekend!! LOL!!

Mercy,

WOW, this card is so Beautiful!!!! Those colors look so good together, especially with the butterflies. It is really awesome ( and I don't ever use that word). It looks like the new in colors.

Hope you had fun last weekend at your retreat. I have been working on some Thanksgiving Cards but just can't get it together. Everything I put together, I'm not happy with. I guess I'm just thinking more about my Christmas Cards. I have most of my paper cut and now I am just waiting for my colored paper from Stampin Up to get here. I hope to get my Christmas Cards done earlier this year.

I really enjoyed the cards we did this month. They are definitely techniques I will try again.

Can't wait for your next card!

Thanks, Mercy
LOL, Lois
