...WT140: Pick~a~Poinsettia

DON'T FORGET THE BLOG CANDY GIVEAWAY DRAWING! YOU CAN ENTER AT THE NOVEMBER 11th POST!

This is my submission for today's Ways To Use It Challenge at SCS. The card base is Wild Wasabi cardstock, and the card measures 5-1/2" square. I matted the wasabi with the Designer Paper from the Dashing collection from Stampin' Up! after I had sponged the edges with Real Red ink. The designer paper panel measures 5-3/8" square. The focal panel includes cardstock in the following colors and dimensions (starting from the bottom): The Wild Wasabi mat is 4-1/4" X 4", and the corners are punched with the Ticket Corner Punch from SU! The Real Red mat is 4-1/8" X 3-7/8", and the corners are not punched. Then the River Rock mat is 4" X 3-3/4", and the corners are also punched using the Ticket Corner Punch again. I used the word block stamp from the set Season of Joy, and stamped it in a collage pattern on the River Rock cardstock using the same color ink. Then used the "Merry Christmas" sentiment from the same set, and stamped it in the lower right corner of the river panel in Real Red. These mats are attached to each other and the card base using SNAIL Adhesive.

The "poinsettia" is made by using the set Pick a Petal, and stamping two different petals in two different colors. One is stamped in Real Red, and the other is stamped in Wild Wasabi. Then each petal is cut out and arranged by piercing a hole in each petal with a Paper Piercer, then stringing them onto a brad in the desired pattern. I used a simple silver brad for this. The brad is then secured on the back of the flower. I stamped the center of the flower in Real Red onto wasabi paper, cut it out, then pierced to center to add the Jumbo Red-Striped Brad from Kurio. I punched out a solid red circle using the 1" Circle Punch, and attached the wasabi center to it with Glue Dots. The entire center of the flower is attached to the poinsettia with a Dimensional. Then the completed poinsettia is attached to the focal panel with Dimensionals also.

That is it for now. Thank you for stopping by! I will see you all tomorrow with another creation AND the announcement of the blog candy winner! Hugs ~ Mercy

You remind me of one of my favorite stampers on SCS-Rox. She too always gives size dimensions and supplies she used. Very helpful especially to someone like me who is a "young" stamper- in experience only!!

Great blog and really nice cards. tfs
