...Inspiration Challenge #85

I made this particular card while stamping with a friend of mine Saturday. I was there to help Martha Lynn by showing her new techniques, new color combos, or to simply be an inspiration. It turns out that she doesn't need help or inspiration...that lady can turn out some cards! She made five beautiful cards while I was with her to my flimsy four cards (this being one of them). I had such a great time with her, and we will hopefully have another play day next Saturday. I can't wait, Martha Lynn! Get ready for some cracked glass and soot stamping!

This card was done as an inspiration challenge posted on SCS today. Karen wanted us to use the menorahs found HERE as inspiration for a new creation. I loved the one with all of the blues and corals...thus the blue and coral card! Go figure, right? I used a sponge to age the edges, and I used ice stickles to make centers of the flowers in the background. The focal image is watercolored on watercolor paper, and edges were dusted for dimension. I have absolutely loved doing all of the challenges. It has given me the opportunity to work with colors, sketches, and/or stamp sets that I normally wouldn't use. It has really made a difference in the way I approach making cards now. I want to have a sketch and color combo before I ever begin to think about which set I want to use. I have found that it has made me a little more organized, too (I can hear gasps coming from individuals that REALLY know me..."Dear God! Not more organization!"). But yes! I am more organized when I have to pack up my stuff to take to someone else's house, or to go to a workshop of some sort. I would have never guessed that making cards would make someone more organized: there you go, an excuse to give the dear husband for all of the time spent playing with stamps, "But honey, it could make me more organized." Alright, maybe not, but it was worth a shot, right?

Thanks for visiting me today, and I hope you are having a tremendous weekend. Get some rest, but most of all, MAKE SOME CARDS!

Hugs ~ Mercy

Your post had me chuckling...I don't know if my DH will fall for it, but if I were to come home with cards like the one you made here, I'm sure he wouldn't mind! LOVE how you colored the bird image. Nice card!
